Alfreda (Maleski) Gazarik

Alfreda (Maleski) Gazarik, 92, of Tarentum, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016 at her home. She was born April 23, 1923, in Export, a daughter of the late Zygmund and Mary Witucki Maleski. Alfreda was a 1943 graduate of Har-Brack High School and a 1946 graduate of St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh. She worked as a Registered Nurse before retiring. Alfreda was a member of Holy Martyrs Church in Tarentum. Alfreda is survived by her son, Richard (Lucy) Gazarik, of Greensburg; a daughter, Toni (William) McLeod, of Tarentum; two grandchildren, Kathryn Gazarik and Adam Gazarik and his fiance, Kellie Karasack, all of Pittsburgh; brother, Richard Maleski, of Natrona Heights: and by a longtime family friend, Mary Ann Kupka, of Lower Burrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony A. Gazarik on March 12, 2006; sisters, Irene Szalanski and Charlotte Maleski; and by her brother, Edwin Maleski.
There will be no public visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at 11 AM in Holy Martyrs Church with her pastor the Rev. Thomas Gillespie, MD, as celebrant. Entombment will be in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery Mausoleum, Frazer Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Alfreda may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association of Western Pennsylvania, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, Pa. 16001.
