Bernard Knapek, 93, of Natrona Heights, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 21, 2023. He was born October 19, 1929, in Natrona Heights, a son of the late John and Stephana (Beresik) Knapek. Bernard was a veteran, serving in the United States Army. He worked in the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation for the states of California, Pennsylvania and New York during his career. . He was a member of Guardian Angels Parish, former St. Joseph Church. Bernard like to remodel homes and tinker with thing around the house. He is survived by his companion of 60 years, Elaine Wengrzyn, nephews, Greg Knapek, Richard (Alice) Knapek, Michael (Karin) Knapek and Thomas (Tammy) Knapek and by his nieces Michelle (Alberto) Batalla, Patricia Surma, Roselynn Knapek and Linda (Matthew) Mullen. In addition to his parents, Bernard was preceded in death by his brothers, Rev. John Knapek, S.J., Richard Knapek and Joseph Knapek and by his sister, Margaret K. Knapek.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of a parting prayer service at 11:30 a.m. in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heights 724-224-8688. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 12 Noon in Most Blessed Sacrament Campus, Natrona Heights. Burial will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
