Bill L. Karaica, 69, of Fawn Township, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born June 2, 1948, in New Kensington a son of the late Mike and Thelma Coward Karaica. Bill was a 1966 graduate of Springdale High School. He served in the US Army, 1st Battalion, 1st Brigade, during the Vietnam War from September 1967 until September 1969. Bill retired after 41 years of service from PPG Springdale where he worked as a foreman at the Research and Development Center. He was a member of the Fryburg Sportsmans Club. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, going to his camp in Tionesta , was an avid Steeler fan, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Suzanne Wasilowski Karaica; children, Jeff Karaica (Carrie Jacobus), of New Kensington and Beth (Keith) Brancato, of Lower Burrell; grandchildren, Christian 'Turk' and Casey 'Scooby'; brother, Mitchell A. (Ann) Karaica, of Gibsonia; sisters, Callie Ann (Vicky) Karaica, of Lower Burrell and Mary Kay (Al) Zombeck, of Corapolis; sister-in-law, Connie Karaica, of Sarver; and by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James T. Karaica.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-8 PM in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights 724-224-8688, where funeral ceremonies will be held on Friday at 10 AM. Officiating will be the Rev. Brian Mesick. A Celebration of Bill's life will be held later this spring at his beloved camp 'Next Time' in Tionesta. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Bill may be made to the Transplant Institute, Allegheny Health Network, 4818 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15224.
