Cataldo F. Paterno, 93, of Harrison Township, passed away peacefully on February 3rd, 2025 at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights PA, surrounded by family and friends. Cataldo (Aldo/Al) is the son of Navaro and Maria (Mastrangelo) Paterno, and was born on April 25, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY. He was an avid athlete, playing baseball, football and basketball throughout his youth. He worked as a lithographer for 35 years, and married the love of his life, the late Leonarda ’Lee’ (Varrone) in 1973. They built their life together in Lindenhurst, NY, with their daughter Alicia. He was a devout and prayerful Catholic and loved listening to the Holy Bible on audiobook. He enjoyed auto repair, woodworking, playing cards, checkers, and chess. Aldo had an exquisite taste in music, with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Louise Prima, Glenn Miller, and gospel and worship music featuring prominently in his numerous playlists. This love of music extended to his love of radios and movies (both of which he had an extensive collection), and while his health allowed, singing karaoke and dancing. He gladly shared his wisdom about life and happiness with anyone that sought it. Despite spending a quarter of his life in Pittsburgh, Aldo maintained his thick and rich Brooklyn accent and did not use “Yinz” in his vernacular. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife Lee. He was a loving father to his daughter Alicia (Parsi) of Sarver, Father-in-law to Arash, and Grandfather to Leeann, Matthew and Elizabeth.
