Daniel M. Valasek, 63, of Tarentum, passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, at his home. He was born June 10, 1952, in Natrona Heights, the son of Michael Valasek, of Natrona Heights, and Louise King (Richard) Ward, of South Buffalo Township. Dan was a 1970 graduate of Highlands High School and was the Pennsylvania High School Shot Put Champion. He retired from Allegheny Ludlum Steel in Brackenridge after 30 years of service, working in the No. 3 Department. Dan was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Parish in Natrona. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and loved animals. In addition to his parents, Dan is survived by his two sisters, Diane Valasek (Erin Bolt), of Natrona Heights, and Sue Negley (Gary Buchlmayer), of Natrona Heights; aunts, Helen Kuslock and Veronica Peters; uncles, Ernest (Eleanor) Valasek and John (Beverly) Valasek; and by numerous cousins.
Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until the time of a blessing service at 11 a.m. Thursday in the CICHOLSKI-ZIDEK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights, 724-224-8688. Officiating will be the Rev. James Mazurek. Burial will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
