Earl B. 'Herk' McKinney Jr., 83, of Natrona Heights, went to be with his Lord and Savior early Saturday morning on March 18, 2017, after a brief illness. He was born December 28, 1933, in Natrona Heights to the late Earl B. and Celia Ricail McKinney Sr. Earl had lived in the area all his life. After graduating from Har-Brack High School, Harrison Township, he served his country during the Korean War by enlisting into the United States Air Force, and was stationed at Kimpo Air Base, South Korea. Earl retired from Oberg Industries in Buffalo Township, after 40 years of service retiring in 1997. Some of his favorite pastimes were participating in his horseshoe and bowling leagues. He was also a member of the former MORA club. As a devout born again Christian, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Upper Burrell. Earl is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Juanita Mae Witt McKinney; two sons, Craig (Leslie) McKinney, of Kittanning and Glenn McKinney, of Brackenridge; sister-in-law, JoAnn Negley, of Brackenridge; brother-in-law, Eugene (Bonnie) Witt, of Natrona Heights; and by numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4, 6-8 PM in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights 724-224-8688. Funeral ceremonies will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM in the funeral home. Officiating will be his pastor the Rev. David Murphy. Burial will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
