Frank M. Bavetz, 95, of Natrona Heights, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 8, 2021. He was born April 6, 1926, in Brackenridge to the late Anthony and Amelia (Zaremba) Bavetz. Frank was a proud Marine who served his country in WWII. He retired in 1991 from Allegheny Ludlum Steel in Brackenridge where he worked as a roller. Frank was a member of Guardian Angels Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Natrona Heights, V.F.W. Post 894 in Natrona Heights, American Legion Post 48 in Natrona, the Tarentum Elks and the U.S.M.C. League Allegheny Valley Detachment 827. He enjoyed traveling, doing volunteer work, camping and fishing. Frank is survived by his children, Michael (Elaine) Bavetz, of Coconut Creek, Florida, Martin (Becky) Bavetz, of Uniontown, Janet (Michael) Valasek, of New Kensington, Joyce (Tom) Keller, of Oakdale and Julie (Christopher) Monzi, of Gettysburg; 13 grandchildren and by numerous great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Lois M. (Moersch) Bavetz on November 24, 2017; brothers, Stan Zembrowski and Anthony Bavetz and by his sisters, Mary Rea, Rose Perman and Stella Barone.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 2-4, 6-8 p.m. in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heights 724-224-8688, where funeral ceremonies will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Robert Walker. Burial with full military honors accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights. The VFW, American Legion and Marine Corp League Detachment will hold a joint service in the funeral home on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Frank may be made to the Toys for Tots, care of the Allegheny Valley Marine Corp League, Detachment 827, 838 Pittsburgh Street, Springdale, Pa. 15144.
