Gloria Brewer

Gloria “Peanut” Brewer of Tarentum, PA, passed away Monday, October 16, 2023.

Born November 14, 1954, she was the youngest daughter of the late Julius and Betty Bauers)  Kubican.

She graduated from Deer Lakes High School and was employed at Health South/Encompass Health where she worked in food service for 43 years until she retired in May 2022. She was the longest tenured employee for Encompass when she retired.

Gloria enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, going to the casino in Pittsburgh, going to camp, and getting together with family to make pierogies. She enjoyed reading, loved Elvis Presley, was a former Girl Scout Leader, and volunteered as a Judge of Elections for Tarentum Borough for many years.  Gloria was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Natrona Heights.

Gloria baked and decorated cakes for weddings, graduations, baptisms, and other special events. She was known as “The Cookie Lady” for the many varieties of cookies she baked, and was practically famous for her lady locks. She would pay attention to which cookies her family liked, giving each person a gift box of their favorites at Christmas. Gloria had a mischievous giggle, and her family all agree that she gave the best hugs.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Roger in 2000 and her brother Kenneth in 2010. She is survived by her children Gloria (Michael) Cerra, and Roger (Lisa) Brewer; her brothers Robert (Mercedes) Kubican, and Michael Kubican; her sisters Sharon (Charles) Plyler, and Sandy (Robert) Brown; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 1-3, 6-8 p.m. in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heights 724-224-8688, where funeral ceremonies will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m.  Officiating will be Pastor John Bulger.  Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.  To send an online condolence please visit www.cicholski-zidekfh.com.
