Hazel (Plaster) Kapus, 90, of Tarentum, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018 in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born January 22, 1928, in Martinsville, Virginia to the late Joab and Daisy Martin Plaster. Hazel and her late husband were the owners of the former Kapus Market in Brackenridge for 41 years, retiring in August of 1990. She was a member of Holy Martyrs Church in Tarentum. Hazel enjoyed gardening, trips to the casino, was an avid Penguin fan and especially enjoyed cooking family dinners for the holidays. She is survived by her children, Bernard (Linda) Kapus, of Gibsonia and Janice (John) Davis, of Buffalo Township; grandchildren, Michael (Anne) Kapus, Bonnie (David) Kampas, Ryan Davis and Eric Davis; her great grandchildren, Noah and Amelia Kampas and Hannah Kapus; and by her dog 'Buddy'. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ignatius G. Kapus on April 15, 2009; twin granddaughters, Karen Lynn and Amy Lynn Kapus; brothers, Dewey, Farley, Tom, Hughes, Willie, Paul and Joe Plaster; and sisters, Lelia Fulcher, Emma Mitchell, Rachel Hudson, Louise Slugocki and Lucille Campbell.
Friends will be received on Friday from 6-8 pm and on Saturday from 8:00 am until the time of a blessing service at 9:00 am in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights 724-224-8688. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 am in Holy Martyrs Church with the Rev. Aaron Kriss as celebrant. Entombment will be in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Township.
