Helen Hartman Glaister passed away peacefully at her home in Natrona Heights, PA surrounded by her loving family on April 4. Nearly 106 years old, Helen was born in Pittsburgh on June 21, 1917 to John Vincent Hartman and Margaret Shields. Helen was the youngest of nine children. Helen loved life; she had a wonderful sense of humor and always kept her family and friends laughing. She loved dancing, bowling, playing the slot machines, playing 500, visiting the ocean and other countries, and spending time with her family. Helen worked for many years as a secretary at Johnston Heating & Roofing Company in New Kensington, PA and volunteered in many capacities to help others including the CDA and Meals on Wheels. Helen married her husband Thomas Glaister (deceased) on April 23, 1946. Helen and Thomas had four children Thomas (Tricia) of Mequon, WI, Peggy Kaczmarek - deceased (Andrew) of Las Cruces, NM, John (Beth) of Noblesville, IN and Claire Locke (Jim – deceased) of Tarentum, PA. Helen is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Drew Kaczmarek (Alex), Debi Shupe (Dan), Brian Glaister (Chrissy), Michael Kaczmarek (Daniel), Mark Kaczmarek, Matthew Glaister, Thomas Locke and Gavin Glaister, and six great grandchildren, Breck, Kaiden, and Jace Shupe, AJ and James Kaczmarek, and Linus Glaister. Helen is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she cherished. Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4, 6-8 p.m. in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heights 724-224-8688, where a parting prayer service will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. in Most Blessed Sacrament Campus with her pastor the Rev. John B. Lendvai as celebrant. Burial will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
