Johanna (Orosz) Gezo, 92, of Brackenridge, passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, at Amber Woods, Harmarville. She was born Jan. 26, 1923, in Winburne, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Knechtle Orosz. Johanna was a 1940 graduate of Har-Brack High School. She was a member of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church, in Natrona Heights, the Ladies Guild and Ambassador Club of the church and also worked for many years in the kitchen at the church for Monday night bingo. Johanna enjoyed sewing, playing cards, reading, Scrabble and vacationing at the beach with her family. She is survived by her three sons, Joseph M. (Lois Ann) Gezo, of Peachtree Corner, Ga., Thomas A. (Evelyn) Gezo, of Old Saybrook, Conn., and James R. (Kelly) Gezo, of Natrona Heights; six grandchildren, Joseph C. (Stevie) Gezo, Michelle (Eric) Varney, Mary Gezo, Thomas Gezo Jr., Michael Gezo (fiancee, Meghan Weber) and Lauren Gezo; and by her brother, William (Jerrie) Orosz, of New Kensington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Gezo, on Nov. 25, 2006; her daughter, Mary Ann Gezo; and by her brother, Joseph Orosz.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the CICHOLSKI-ZIDEK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights, 724-224-8688, where a blessing service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Most Blessed Sacrament Church with her pastor, the Rev. James Mazurek, as celebrant. Burial will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
