John L. Yatzor Jr., 80, of Buffalo Township, passed away peacefully, Thursday, October 30, 2014, in the company of his family, at the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia, Cabot. He was born November 11, 1933, in Edinboro, a son of the late John L. and Mary Ellen Flickinger Yatzor Sr.
After relocating to the Pittsburgh area in 1972, he was employed by Mine Safety Appliances. After many years in the plastic injection molding business, he retired from Namsco Plastics in 2004. John was a past president of the Pittsburgh Society of Plastics Engineers, and in 2005, received the John Parks Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society of Plastics Engineers, Pittsburgh Section.
He enjoyed sports, and in his youth, and was in the Erie Lyons Football Hall of Fame.
John is survived by his wife, Christy (Byrd) Yatzor; daughter, Katie Yatzor at home; four sons, Bruce (Sue) Yatzor of Edinboro, Brian Yatzor of Jacksonville, Fla., Barry (Linda) Yatzor of Chicago, and Jeff (Penny) Yatzor of Edinboro; four grandchildren, Brett (Chrissy) Yatzor, Stephanie (Josh) McKinney, Morgan Yatzor and Anna Yatzor; three great-grandchildren, Summer, Haleigh and Rylee; and by his brother, Joseph (Jackie) Yatzor of Erie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Joshua John Yatzor in 1983.
