Joseph Walkiewicz, 83, of Buffalo Township, passed away peacefully with his wife at his side on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at their home. He was born December 1, 1941, in Natrona Heights to the late ZIgmunt & Helen (Urbanski) Walkiewicz. Joe served his country in the Army Reserve working with the Army Corp of Engineers. He retired in 1998 as a supervisor in the T&Y Department at Allegheny Ludlum Steel in Brackenridge. A truly memorable and generous member of his community, Joe belonged to St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport, Knights of Columbus Council 2602 in Natrona, Riverforest Country Club, and the V.F.W. in Lower Burrell. He was a former member of the Tarentum Elks. Joe enjoyed golfing and was a member of the St. Joseph Golf League. Joe will be remembered for his ability to captivate a room with his storytelling, greet children and adults alike with a booming, “Hey Kid!,” and entering every party with a festive sweater and a glass (or two, or three) of champagne. His great nieces and nephews will forever miss the days when he would gather them together and literally throw money in the air for them to catch. There will never be another person quite like him, and while we recall the tales of his life on Earth, it’s with the knowledge that our storytelling will always pale in comparison to his. Joe is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jean (West) Walkiewicz and by several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Zigmunt Walkiewicz Jr. and sister, Barbara Walsh.
