Laura Jean (Gaurich) Kish passed from this life from natural causes in her home on Saturday, January 29, 2022, joining her Lord and her beloved husband, Thomas (Shorty) Kish.
Jean was a sprite 92 years young, born on August 13, 1929 in West Deer Township to the late Peter and Susan (Steffan) Gaurich. She was sister to Helen, Martha, William, Edward and Audrey.
Jean was a lifelong resident of Tarentum for 67 years. She loved to sit on her front porch and watch the neighborhood, talking to those who walked by her house.
Jean was retired from her service of being a foster parent for many years. Many many babies were carried thru the doors of her home. Sometimes, two at a time. Babies certainly were her happy place! Jean and husband, Thomas, were presented with an award from Pittsburgh Children Services for their years of dedication to the babies.
Jean also was retired from Trinity House Elder Care in West Tarentum as house manager.
Jean had the travel experiences to Middleport, New York, to visit daughter Diane and her family, to Peters Creek, Alaska to visit daughter Martha Jean and her family and to Maui, Hawaii for her grandson, Timothy Grabowski’s marriage to Kaylea Le. Altho, Jean very much enjoyed these travels, she looked forward to returning to her house in Tarentum.
In addition to her parents, Peter and Susan (Steffan) Gaurich, Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas, and her son-in-law, Joseph Grabowski, beloved husband of daughter, Ada Diane. Her sisters; Helen (Gaurich) Dercque, Martha (Gaurich) Seagriff and brother William Gaurich.
Jean’s survivors include her children; daughters, Martha Jean (Tom) Cross of Palmer, Alaska and Ada Diane Grabowski of Middleport, New York, and sons; Thomas (Cindy) Kish of Brackenridge, Pa. and Steven (Sue) Kish of Lower Burrell, Pa. Jean leaves behind her sister, Audrey Spiering of Lower Burrell, Pa, and brother, Edward Gaurich of Florida.
Jean was blessed with seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren plus one on the way, and two great great-grandchildren plus one on the way. Including many other nieces, nephews and greats, along with much loved great niece, Annika Spiering Pirotrowski.
At Jean’s request, funeral services were private.
