Louis Edward Welsh, 88, of Brackenridge PA passed away January 28, 2018 in Miami, Florida. He was born December 12, 1929 to Alfretta and Louis Welsh on his father's birthday. His father said he was the best birthday gift he ever received. Lou was a 1947 graduate of Har Brack High School and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for three years in the Korean War. He worked at Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation for 44 years, retiring in 1991. Lou was a member of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Natrona Heights.
In 1947 he started passing notes in study hall to a young lady who caught his eye. That young lady, Helen Jane Stoops, became his wife on November 11, 1950. They just recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.
Lou instilled many important life lessons in his family - not so much by his words but by his actions. He taught his family the importance of generosity, compassion for others and a work ethic comparable to none.
After his retirement Lou enjoyed volunteering with Meals on Wheels and the Pittsburgh Aviary. He was a member of the American Legion Post 226, Brackenridge and the VFW Post 894, Natrona Heights. Lou loved cooking, Pittsburgh Steeler football games, golfing with his buddies, and feeding the birds and rabbits in his backyard. More than anything, he loved his family and loved spoiling them.
Mr. Welsh is survived by his wife, Helen Jane Welsh, his daughters, Linda (William) Jacobs, Mary (Paul) Heydemann, his four grandchildren, Molly (Ray) Moody, Ryan Jacobs, Austin Gehm, and Tyler Gehm, and two great-grandchildren Brittany and Travis Moody. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Betty Merchant and his brother Richard Welsh.
