Marie J. (Ryba) Sokol, 86, of Fawn Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 21, 2025 in her home. She was born April 3, 1938, in New Kensington to the late Anna Ryba and Stanley Pelczarski. Marie lived her life with a deep devotion to her faith and to her family. She delighted in watching her children and grandchildren grow and prosper, and was overjoyed to spend time with her two infant great-granddaughters over the past several months. She and her husband Joe were married for 63 years before his death in 2023. Marie was a member of Guardian Angels Parish, Natrona Heights Campus, the Rosary Society, Christian Mothers, and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Marie was a Eucharistic Minister at church and at Allegheny Valley Hospital, and a former Sunday school teacher. She also played the prim with the Keystone Adult Tamburitzans. Marie is survived by her children, Marie King, of Annapolis, MD, Joseph (Janet Lee) Sokol, of Tenino, WA, Michael Sokol, of Natrona Heights, Paul (Ann) Sokol, Catherine Sokol (Deanna Gerhart), of Waldorf, MD, Helen Phillip, of Corona Del-Mar, CA, and Karen Sokol, of York, grandchildren, Rachel (Zack) Blewett, Michelle (Tristan) Sokol-Cummings, Michael Sokol (Maura Penn), Philip Sokol, Brian Sokol, Matthew Phillip, Ryan Phillip, Megan Phillip, Joshua Sokol, Elijah Jones, Alyssa Gerhart, Paige Johnson, Victoria Johnson and Darius Johnson, great grandchildren, Madeline Blewett and Adeline Sokol and by her brother, Robert (Kathryn) Pelczarski of Drexel Hill. In addition to her parents Anna and Stanley Pelczarski, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Sokol on May 15, 2023 and by her son-in-law, Shawn Johnson. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4, 6-8 p.m. in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heights 724-224-8688, where a parting prayer service will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. in Most Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Lower Burrell.
