Martha J. Platt

Martha J. (Thomas) Platt, 100, of Brackenridge, passed away at home on Sunday, December 25, 2022 with her family at her side. She was born January 13, 1922, in Brackenridge a daughter of the late Joseph Harper and Anna Mabel (Kennedy) Thomas. Martha was a 1939 graduate of Har-Brack High School. She was the oldest member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Tarentum,where she served as a Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher and active member of the Women's Association. Martha was also a 64 year member of the Eastern Star. Martha was a volunteer for the Highlands Area Meals-on-Wheels for 34 years and served on the Election board in Brackenridge for over 50 years. Martha is survived by her three daughters, Darlene (Warren) Lea, of McMurry, Sally (Robert, Deceased) Holmes, of Havre de Grace, Maryland and Cheryl (Thomas) Huet, of Natrona Heights, grandchildren, Meagan (James) Bregenser, Gary (Katherine) Brozenich, Cara (Joseph) Pallitto, Laura (Robert) Hahn-Magee, Elizabeth Holmes (Benjamin Jankosky), Matthew (Ozge) Huet, Julie (Robert) Pfeffer and Chelsea (Andrew) Pujol and by her 18 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, King Samuel Platt, whom she married on August 25, 1941 (King passed on September 29, 1993) and by her siblings, Mary Thomas, James Thomas, Edna Hawthorne, Joseph Byron Thomas, Eleanor Thomas and Virginia Wescoat.



Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the First United Presbyterian Church, Tarentum. Officiating will be her pastor the Rev. Philip Beck. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Brookland Cemetery, Allegheny Township. Contributions in memory of Martha may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church, 913 Lock St., Tarentum, Pa. 15084 or to the AHN Home Hospice, 500 Commonwealth Drive, Warrendale, Pa. 15086.
