Martin J. Bash Sr., 87, of Buffalo Township, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot. He was born November 30, 1928, in Natrona Heights, a son of the late George and Laura Baker Bash Sr. Martin was a 1947 graduate of Har-Brack High School. He worked as the service manager at Jack's Ford and later worked for Jack's Mobile Homes both in Sarver, retiring in 1993. Martin was a Navy veteran, serving as a communication technician from 1948-1952. He was a life member of the Sarver Veterans and the VFW Post 894 in Natrona Heights. Martin enjoyed his dog' 'Wiley'. He is survived by his daughter, Karen (Paul) Janoski, of Buffalo Township; his grandchildren, Linde (Thomas) Bash Heyward Jr., Lauren Bash Craighton, Ryan (Melissa) Janoski, Jacob (Heather) Bash and Heather (Jacob) Bash Visnesky; eight great grandchildren; sisters; Minnie Sum, of Valencia, Violet Hunter, of Cheswick, Connie Hoak, of Brackenridge and Mary (George) Sager, of Waterman; and by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Martin J. Bash Jr.; sister, Margaret Love; and by his brothers, Chester Gibson, George John 'Andy' Bash Jr. and Thomas Bash.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4, 6-8 PM in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights 724-224-8688, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 AM. Officiating will be the Rev. Chris Marshall. Burial will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Martin, may be made to the Butler Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, Pa. 16053 or to New Life Christian Ministries, 139 Knoch Road, Saxonburg, Pa. 16056.
