Mildred (Miecznikowski) Crain, 95, of Lower Burrell, passed away Friday, September 15, 2017 in Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. She was born December 24, 1921, in Natrona Heights a daughter of the late Karol and Mary Kucinski Miecznikowski. Mildred was a member of St. Mary of Czestochowa R.C. Church in New Kensington. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with her family. Mildred is survived by her son, Henry (Carol) Crain, of Davenport, Iowa; granddaughters, Jennifer (Mark) Peterson, of Escondido, California, Kristin (Joel) Andersen, of Westminster, Colorado and Bethany (Troy) Thaemert, of Aurora, Colorado; great grandchildren, Abigail and Ava Andersen, Jakob Peterson and Sophie Thaemert; and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry A. Crain on March 6, 2014; sisters, Joan Winkleman, Alfreda Zaludny, Sophie Kovach and Eleanor Lewis; and by her brothers, William and Karol Mitchell, Casimir, Eugene and Leonard Miecznikowski. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Kenneth Zaludny for his assistance and support in caring for his Aunt 'Midge' in her later years.
Friends will be received on Monday from 6-8 PM and on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the time of a blessing service at 10:30 AM in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle St. Natrona Heights 724-224-8688. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM Tuesday in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Natrona Heights with the Rev. John B. Lendvai as celebrant. Entombment will be in Mt.
