Phyllis A. Walters

Phyllis A. Walters, 81, of Natrona Heights, passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, in the company of her family at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born June 25, 1934, in Freeport, and has lived in Natrona Heights since 1950. She was the daughter of the late Grant Hines and Twila McAninch Ruffner. Phyllis worked as a waitress for 34 years. She retired from Jack's in Sarver. Phyllis enjoyed bingo, time at the casino and playing scrabble. She was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan. Her home was always a warm and welcoming place for family and friends. She loved volunteering for the Highlands Area Meals-on-Wheels and swim exercise at the YMCA. For Phyllis, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the love of her life. She is survived by her children, Peg (Norm) Sayre, of Tequesta, Fla., Paul (Valerie) Walters, of Fawn Township, Cindy Walters, of Lower Burrell, Jimbo (Heather) Walters, of Clermont, Fla., and Melissa (Bob) Elliott, of Brackenridge; her grandchildren, Kate (Justin) Sarra, Jeff Walters, Grant and Ty Walters, Carlie and Sam Elliott, Jade (Brandon) Cielicki and Beau Walters; great-grandchildren, Cecily, Julian, Carys, Fisher and Beckett Sarra and Mia and Ava Walters; sisters, Nancy Skulos, Susie Ruffner and Sandy Mozzy; her best friend, Maggie Allerdyce; and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Walters, in 2002; her son, Michael Walters, in 2013; and by her brothers, Dick and Joe Hines.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the CICHOLSKI-ZIDEK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights, 724-224-8688, where funeral ceremonies will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Officiating will be the Rev. Sara Wrona. Burial will be private.
