Our loving father, Raymond S. Ameel, 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 16, 2022. He was born August 5,1928 in West Natrona, the son of the late Albert A. and Stella (Wlodarczyk) Ameel. He was a member of Guardian Angels Parish, St. Ladislaus Church. Raymond attended Har-Brack High School. He enlisted in the Marine Corp in 1948 and proudly served in the Korean War. He worked for many years at Liberty Mirror in Brackenridge before serving as a police officer with the Harrison Township Police Department where he retired as a Lieutenant. He was a man of many talents. He enjoyed woodworking and made toy boxes, cradles, rocking horses, and a doll house for his children and grandchildren. He loved fishing and made several trips to Canada. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and FOP. Raymond is survived by his children, William L. Schoen (Shirley) with whom he recently made his home, Patricia A. (Schoen) Marshall, Victoria L. Ameel-Kovacs (Michael), Raymond A. Ameel (Susan), and Michael E. Ameel (Susan); grandchildren, Michael Schoen, Douglas Schoen (Christy), Kaitlyn Schoen, Kristin Gornek (Ken), Melissa Marshall (Ed Marx), Anthony Ameel-Kovacs, Adam Ameel (Cassy), and Brandon Kelm; great-grandchildren, Cooper Schoen, Leia Schoen and Bella Kelm. Raymond was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia, on April 16, 2022, and his son-in-law, Gary Marshall.
Family and Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at the Most Blessed Sacrament Campus at 9:30 AM Saturday, November 19, 2022. Burial with full military honors accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights, Pa.
