Richard R. 'Korker' Korczynski, 75, of Natrona Heights, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016 at his home. He was born April 29, 1941, in Natrona, the son of the late Edward and Frances Korczynski. Rich was a 1959 graduate of Har-Brack High School and also a graduate of Robert Morris University. He was a Vietnam war veteran serving in the US Navy. Rich retired from the former National City Bank where he worked as an assistant Vice President. He served Harrison Township as chairman of the Planning Commission and on the Human Relations Committee and was also the secretary of the Harrison Township Water Authority. Rich was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Parish, American Legion Post 48, P.N.A. and Knights of Columbus council 2602, all in Natrona and the VFW Post 894, in Natrona Heights. He was an avid Steeler fan being a longtime season ticket holder and enjoyed attending Highlands High School football and basketball games. He also enjoyed playing Santa Claus for many years at the PNA. Rich proclaimed himself to be the worlds greatest amateur putter. Rich is survived by his wife of 49 years, Phyllis Sypenick Korczynski; his two sons, Jason (Ha) Korczynski, of Sykesville, Maryland and Chad Korczynski, of Natrona Heights; and by his two grandsons, Colin and Isaac Korczynski. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Jeannie Smittle and Frances Kuhnert.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 10 AM in St. Ladislaus Church with the Rev. Aaron Kriss as celebrant. Everyone is asked to please meet at the church. Private burial will be in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Township.
