Robert M. Mazgaj, 82, of Lower Burrell, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 29, 2024 at Platinum Ridge, Brackenridge. He was born August 7, 1941, in Natrona to the late Michael and Cecilia (Cieslinski) Mazgaj. Bob was a graduate of St. Joseph High School and the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Metallurgy. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Bob retired from the Alcoa Technical Center in Upper Burrell, where he worked as a Metallurgist. While working for Alcoa, Bob developed several patents. Bob was a long time member of St. Mary of Czestochowa R.C. Church in New Kensington, where he served as an usher and on the finance committee. He was also a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a former member of the Pioneer Hose Company in Brackenridge. He enjoyed fishing, spending time at his camp on Canadotha Lake and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. Bob is survived by his sister, Dorothy Mazgaj, of New Kensington, nephew. Paul Mazgaj, of Lower Burrell and by several other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne (Puz) Mazgaj in 1994 and by his sister, Geraldine Mazgaj.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, 857 Kenneth Ave., New Kensington.
