Ronald Lee Mahan, 76, of Natrona Heights, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 6, 2023 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born September 22, 1946, in Natrona Heights, a son of the late Thomas R. "Blinky" and Geraldine M. (Wolfe) Mahan. Ron was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Navy aboard the USS Gearing. Ron worked as a terminal operator for Amoco Oil for 15 years and retired from Fox and James after 15 years where he worked as a diesel mechanic. He was of the Christian faith. Ron was a friendly, quiet, and gentle man who loved his family, friends and neighbors. He adored his grandchildren and enjoyed animals. During his illness he enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels at the feeder outside his window. Ron enjoyed acquiring tools and equipment and watching birds and animals. Ron is survived by his wife, Elaine C. (Cochran) Mahan, sons, Trevor (Carie) Mahan, of Buffalo Township and Brennan (Kayla) Mahan, of Ford City, he was "Pappy Ron" to his grandchildren, Nora, Aron and Dillon Mahan and also survived by his sisters, Nancy Hepler and Sherry Mahan, of Natrona Heights.
Friends will be received on Friday from 4-7 p.m in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heights 724-224-9699, where funeral ceremonies will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Philip Beck. Burial will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ron may be made to your favorite animal rescue.
