Ronald Stewart Haubrich, 80, of Natrona Heights, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born April 19, 1937, in Wilkinsburg to the late Walter and Alva Haubrich. Ron attended Wilkinsburg High School and Indiana State Teachers College, playing on both school's football teams. He also served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve. Through his business career he held the positions of Director of Patient Financial Services and Physician Billing at several Pittsburgh area hospitals, including Allegheny Valley Hospital. Following his retirement, he taught Patient Billing part-time at Career Training Academy, where he was affectionately known as 'Captain Ron'. Always an avid sports fan, Ron especially enjoyed following the Pittsburgh Penguins. He also enjoyed vacationing in Florida and the Florida Keys. He leaves behind his best friend and partner, Donna Laseck, of Natrona Heights.
Per Ron's wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11 AM in the Chapel at Mt. Airy Cemetery in Natrona Heights. Officiating will be the Rev. Harold Mele. Contributions in memory of Ron may be made to the American Heart Association, 444 Liberty Avenue #1300, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15222 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
