Stephen A. Chelko, 76, formerly of Natrona Heights and Saxonburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the Harmony House Manor, Johnstown. He was born November 22, 1944, in Natrona Heights, a son of the late Albert J. and Josephine (Gazarik) Chelko. Stephen was a graduate of Har-Brack High School. He retried after 35 years of service from Allegheny Ludlum Steel in Brackenridge. Stephen was a member of Guardian Angels Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Natrona Heights. He was a giver, a helping hand that was both strong and gentle. Not only always ready, but also willing to help with a project or just listen. When he was not walking his dog, he could be found working on any number of home improvement projects that ranged from landscaping to remodeling a bathroom. Stephen was a jokester who had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a devoted friend, who had a circle of long time friends. Stephen is survived by his children, Christopher (Heather) Chelko, of Long Beach, California and Andrea Hershberger, of Johnstown and by his grandchildren, Abigail and Nicholas Hershberger. In addition to his parents, Stephen was preceded in death by his brother, Albert J. Chelko Jr.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of a blessing service at 2:00 p.m. in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Inc., 1522 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heights 724-224-8688.
